Road accident claims 5 expatriates’ lives in Qatar

Five Bangladeshi nationals were killed in a road accident in Qatar, officials said.

The accident claimed the lives of six people, including five residents of Gachhbari in Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet. The other victim was reported to be an Indian national.

The deceased Bangladeshis were identified as Jasim Uddin of Agotaluk, Jibal Uddin of Amarpur, Mostak Ahmed and Jubayer Ahmed of Majhtaluk, and Kader Ahmed of Gachhbari.

Ahmed Malek, general secretary of Jalalabad Association Qatar, confirmed the information to the media. He said arrangements were being made through the Bangladesh Embassy to send the bodies back home.

The victims were travelling to their workplace in a pickup van when the vehicle lost control, killing all six passengers on the spot, he said. Their bodies have been kept at the morgue of a local hospital.
