BNP's political philosophy dedicated to people welfare: PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the BNP's politics is centered on serving the people and supporting farmers, adding that the government has launched a canal re-excavation program to stand beside the country's agricultural community.

“We said before the election that we wanted to provide a one-time assistance of Tk2,500 to farmers for purchasing seeds and pesticides, and, Insha’Allah, we will deliver it through farmer cards,” the Prime Minister said.

He made the remarks on Saturday morning while addressing a roadside gathering after inaugurating the Patali Canal re-excavation project in Cox’s Bazar.

The prime minister said the BNP's political philosophy is dedicated to the welfare of the people of Bangladesh. “We know that 70 to 80 percent of the country's population consists of hardworking people living in rural areas,” he said.

Highlighting women's empowerment, Tarique Rahman noted that former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia introduced free education for women. He said women must become self-reliant to contribute alongside men to the country's development.

“To ensure that, the current government has announced free education for women up to the undergraduate degree level. Not only that, we have also made provisions to provide stipends for those who perform well academically,” he added.

Earlier in the day, a US-Bangla Airlines flight carrying the prime minister landed at Cox’s Bazar Airport at 10:00 a.m. His spouse, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, accompanied him on the visit.

The prime minister’s tour has prompted heightened administrative activity across Cox’s Bazar. Local authorities and party leaders have completed preparations to ensure security, organize public events, and successfully implement the scheduled government programs. Several ministers and state ministers had already arrived in the district to coordinate activities related to the visit.
