More than fifty Mahindra owners in Tangail's Madhupur have alleged harassment through check dishonor cases, despite purchasing Mahindra three-wheelers on installments and paying the dues on time. Affected Mahindra owners and workers staged a human chain demanding the withdrawal of cases, a halt to harassment, and the settlement of disputes through the verification of installment accounts.
The human chain was organized by the initiative of Mahindra (Piyaju) CNG owners and workers on Thursday (September 10) at around 11:00 AM at the Pineapple Chattar of Madhupur Bus Stand. More than a hundred people, including over fifty Mahindra owners, participated in the one-hour program.
The victims stated that CNG auto-rickshaws and Mahindra three-wheelers are sold on cash and installments from the Yamaha Sales Center in Madhupur. Many lower and middle-income people purchase these vehicles on installments and earn their livelihoods by driving them. However, a dispute has arisen between the Mahindra buyers and Ayub Ali, the seller of the Mahindra (Piyaju) vehicles, regarding the payment of installments and calculations.
Owners participating in the human chain alleged that they regularly paid their installment money according to the agreement. Despite this, check dishonor cases have been filed against the checks they provided. While attending court appearances for these cases, they are facing financial expenses as well as mental stress and crises in earning their livelihoods.
Victims Mokbul Hossain, Shafiqul Islam, and Selim said, "We have paid the installment money according to the agreement. Even after that, cases have been filed against us. We do not want harassment; we want a fair solution to the matter."
Their demand is that the actual dues must be determined by verifying all relevant documents, including the installment agreement made with the sales center, payment receipts, and bank transactions. At the same time, legal review and necessary measures must be taken regarding the cases they claim were unfairly filed, and harassment must be stopped.
Sultan, President, and Chan Mia, General Secretary of the Mahindra CNG Owners and Workers Association, spoke at the human chain. Additionally, victims Mokbul Hossain, Shafiqul Islam, Selim, and others delivered speeches.
The affected victims and leaders participating in the human chain demanded a prompt and lawful resolution of the dispute by verifying relevant documents and transaction accounts.
