Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the government will render its utmost efforts to solve the dengue problem within the next three months.
The Prime Minister said, “The country belongs to everyone. Therefore, the country must be built together. If everyone tries together, the country can change.”
The Prime Minister urged everyone to be aware of cleanliness to keep the family, the society and the country healthy. He also urged everyone to devote one hour to cleanliness every day.
He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the nationwide 'Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026' at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Saturday.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that families and the country must be protected through cleanliness.
The Prime Minister connected with millions of youth from Scouts, BNCC, Girls Guide, Red Crescent and other voluntary organizations from all districts of the country online from the venue.
At the beginning of his speech, Tarique Rahman highlighted the statistics of the youth's strength and said that the number of Scouts in Bangladesh is about 2.3 million, BNCC members are 22,000.
"In addition, there are about 15 million students from high school to university and 25 million students at the primary level. If such a large number of people join the reconstruction of the country, no one will be able to stop us," he said.
Reminding us of the power of the youth to change, he said that if such a large youth society of a country wants to change the country, it is possible to do so. "They showed the whole world on August 5, 2024 that the youth society can change. The change began from there."
Highlighting the goal of this nationwide cleanliness drive, the Prime Minister said, "We will try to solve the dengue problem in the next three months. We may not be able to achieve 100 percent, but I believe that we will be able to succeed at least 80 percent. Dengue usually breeds in broken utensils, plastic or stagnant water. If we all clean these together, it is possible to change the country."
Urging everyone to be aware, he further said, "The task is not very difficult. If you give an hour every week to clean your own home, school, college or institution, then we will be able to change the situation quickly. Many people throw garbage on the streets unconsciously. We, who will conduct cleanliness drives, should discourage these people and make them aware."
He warned that people can be affected by the spread of germs from garbage and trashes. At the end of his speech, the Prime Minister expressed his determination to build a 'clean family, clean society and clean Bangladesh' and administered an oath to the youth present there to commit to this work.
