The government has announced plans for major reforms and expansion in the country’s civil aviation and tourism sectors, including the purchase of 14 Boeing and other aircraft, the commissioning of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, and the development of a dedicated tourism city.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat made the announcement while talking to journalists following a meeting with the Prime Minister at the Secretariat on Thursday morning (23 April).

He further stated that passenger-friendly policies are being adopted to reduce travel inconvenience under the Prime Minister’s directive. A thorough review of past irregularities and corruption in the sector will be conducted, and those responsible will face strict action.
The third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka is expected to be operational by the end of this year, Millat said, adding that Requests for Proposals (RFPs) have already been issued, and discussions with international partners are ongoing, including recent talks with Japan.
The State Minister also said that international flights from Cox’s Bazar are expected to commence within the next two to three months.
