The measles situation in the country has taken an alarming turn, with 10 more deaths reported in the last 24 hours due to suspected infections. During this period, 1,248 people were reported as suspected measles cases, while 189 cases were confirmed.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Wednesday (April 8).
According to the statement, the highest number of deaths from suspected measles in the past 24 hours was recorded in the Dhaka division, with six fatalities. At the district level, Dhaka alone accounted for five deaths. However, no deaths from confirmed measles cases were reported during this period.
Data shows that from March 15 to April 8, the total number of deaths from suspected measles has risen to 138. In the same period, 21 deaths from confirmed measles have been recorded.
Between March 15 and April 8, the total number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 11,133, including 1,599 confirmed cases. During this time, 7,577 patients were hospitalized with measles, while 5,241 have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.
