BNP Candidate Rezaul Karim Badsha has won the by-election to Bogura-6 constituency.
According to unofficial results from 151 centres, including postal votes, announced by the district returning officer, Badsha has received 133,931 votes while Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Abidur Rahman bagged 57,159 votes.
Badsha is the Bogura district BNP president and the former mayor of Bogura municipality. Abidur is Jamaat-e-Islami ameer of Bogura town.
Bangladesh Development Party’s candidate Md Al-Amin got 526 votes in the Bogura-6 by-poll.
The election saw a 42.57 percent voter turnout.
The 13th National Parliamentary election, alongside a referendum, was held on February 12 across 299 constituencies. Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman, who won in Dhaka-17 and Bogura-6, later vacated Bogura-6, prompting the EC to declare the seat vacant and announce a fresh schedule.
