The government will gradually recruit one lakh health workers to enhance and expand medical services across the country, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman announced on Monday night, on the eve of the World Health Day.
Among the one lakh health personnel, 80% would be women, the PM added in a facebook post.
He also noted that the health sector’s share in the national economy will be gradually raised to 5% to fund the expansion of medical services and to make the services affordable for underprivileged people.
For improving healthcare services in line with global advancements, he stressed the roll-out of innovative technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Furthermore, e-health cards will be launched for every person, public-private initiatives will be taken for facilitating swift and quality treatment for chronic and complex health issues, health insurance will be introduced and expanded, medical education and research will be strengthened, and necessary reforms will be undertaken for improving services and making these affordable, Tarique wrote in the facebook post.
Relevant laws will also be introduced for safeguarding the interests of both health service providers and receivers, he added.
