Gold prices in Bangladesh have risen again, with the rate of 22-carat gold exceeding Tk274,000 per bhori following a fresh hike announced by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

The association increased the price by up to Tk5,424 per bhori. As a result, the new price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk274,104 per bhori, up from Tk268,680 the previous day.

The revised rates came into effect from 10:30am on Monday, according to a statement issued by BAJUS.

BAJUS said the price adjustment was made due to a rise in the cost of acid gold (pure gold) in the international market, prompting an increase in local prices.

21-carat: Tk 261,682

Meanwhile, gold prices continue to climb in the global market amid reports of tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. According to GoldPrice.org, the international price of gold has reached $5,356 per ounce, up from $5,278 the previous day.

Earlier, gold was priced at $5,200 per ounce on January 30, after reaching $5,550 on January 29.

Market analysts suggest that geopolitical uncertainties are driving investors toward gold as a safe-haven asset, contributing to the upward trend in prices worldwide.
