DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has said the identities and addresses of everyone involved in the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi will be unveiled, promising to press charges in the case by 7 January.
Speaking while visiting an ongoing sit-in of Inqilab Mancha at Shahbagh in the capital last night (27 December), the Dhaka Metropolitan Police chief called it a "mysterious murder."
He said multiple individuals were involved in the crime, adding that police have so far arrested 10 people in this connection.
"We are making every effort to identify all those involved. The masterminds behind the killing will be exposed, with their names and addresses."
Noting that a large sum of money was spent in carrying out the murder, the DMP commissioner said investigators have recovered signed cheques worth Tk218 crore.
He said police will submit their charge sheet in the case within the next 10 days, by 7 January.
Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, along with senior DMP officials, was present at the time.
Inqilab Mancha continued its Shahbagh sit-in for a second consecutive day yesterday, demanding justice for Hadi's killing.
Earlier, after Jumma prayers on Friday (26 December), leaders and activists of Inqilab Mancha and July Mancha, along with general students and members of the public, held a procession from the Dhaka University Central Mosque and took position at the Shahbagh intersection.
People from various walks of life later joined the sit-in.
Late last night, Inqilab Mancha called for an "all-out blockade" in all divisional cities across the country starting at 2pm today.
The demonstration is aimed at demanding the immediate arrest and trial of those involved in the killing of Hadi.
