Ten more people died from dengue in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, taking the year’s total death toll past 300.
Around 1,069 people were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease during 8am Tuesday to 8am Wednesday, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Total hospitalisations have reached 74, 992 and total deaths 302 so far this year.
Five people died in areas under the Dhaka South City Corporation, three in Dhaka North City Corporation areas, and one each in Khulna and Barishal divisions.
Last year, a total of 1,01,214 people were hospitalised due to dengue, and 575 deaths were recorded. In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, while a total of 3,21,179 patients were hospitalised with the viral disease.
