Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman has called on all members of the Regiment of Artillery and the Army Air Defence Corps (AADFC) to boost their preparedness through modern and relevant training to effectively face the challenges of the 21st century.
He made the call during the 44th Annual Commanders' Conference of the Regiment of Artillery and the 1st Annual Commanders' Conference of the AADFC, held today at the Artillery Centre and School (AC&S) in Halishahar Cantonment, Chattogram, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
General Waker attended the event as the chief guest and was received by senior officers upon his arrival, including the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, the GOC of the 24th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Chattogram, and the Commandant of AC&S.
In his address, the army chief reflected on the proud legacy of the Regiment of Artillery and the Army Air Defence Corps, acknowledging their significant contributions to the nation's defence.
He stressed the importance of acquiring modern, adaptable training to confront future challenges effectively.
Waker also discussed technological development, research, professional growth, and future planning within both corps and engaged in detailed exchanges with the officers present, the ISPR said.
The event was attended by senior military and government officials, including the GOC of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, the Director-General of the Immigration and Passport Department, the GOC of the 17th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Sylhet, the GOC of the 24th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Chattogram, the Master General of the Ordnance of the Bangladesh Army, the Chairman of BEPZA, senior directing staff of the National Defence College, senior officers of Army Headquarters, and commanders from all artillery and air defence regiments.
On October 29, 2025, Maj Gen Mohammad Nurul Anwar officially assumed his duties as the 10th Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Artillery.
Meanwhile, Maj Gen Mohammad Abu Bakar Siddique Khan, Master General of the Ordnance of the Bangladesh Army, took charge as the first Colonel Commandant of the Army Air Defence Corps.
