Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today said that time will determine whether the Awami League retains its registration and participates in the upcoming national election.

He was replying to a question from journalists at Sylhet Circuit House during a views exchange programme regarding the updating of voter lists and preparations for the national election. Asked if AL can participate in the next election, the CEC said, "Time will say."

Addressing questions about registration of political parties, the CEC said that the decision will be planned afresh after the reformation committee submits its report.

Responding to queries about local government elections, he said, "Local government election is a multi-layered step and is very tough to implement before the national election."
