At the TRAB Star Award 2025 ceremony organized by the Television Reporters Association of Bangladesh (TRAB) on Monday, 28 July 2025 at 5:00 PM, prizes were awarded during a discussion and cultural event held at the Jahur Hossain Chowdhury Auditorium of the National Press Club. Mohammad Ershad Hasan was honored as Best Stage & Television Actor with the TRAB Star Award 2025.
Known through stage plays, street dramas, silent performances, radio voice acting, television roles, photography, and coordinating large artistic projects, as well as working as an artistic manager for theatre groups, Ershad Hasan has graced both domestic and international stages. Over time he has become widely recognized and beloved among theatre enthusiasts. He is not only an actor but also a trainer, organizer, and performing artist.
His journey in theatre began after successfully completing a year long certificate course at Theatre School under the direction of National Professor Kabir Chowdhury. He gained widespread recognition through leading roles in theatre productions. For two decades, he has been a member of the prestigious Theatre troupe led by internationally reputed dramatist Ramendu Majumdar, portraying diverse roles while carrying significant organizational responsibilities in numerous plays.
In the theatrical and organizational path, under Dr. Farhad Jaman Palash’s direction, he handled costume design, stage management, and execution for the Bengali translation of Samuel Beckett’s Endgame titled “Shesh Khela”. He portrayed Raj Sebak in Madhavi (by Girish Karnad, translated by Ashish Goswami, directed by Ramendu Majumdar). In Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy repertory productions he played Rehmat in Khetmazur Khaimuddin (directed by Golam Sarwar); in Meraz Fakir er Maa (written & directed by Abdullah al Mamun) he played the sharp-witted Chaula Hekmat. In Rudro Robi o Jallianwala Bagh (Shilpakala Academy repertory, directed by Ataur Rahman) he impressively enacted British Member, Dada Thakur, and Sanjay. In Baramkhana (Theatre production, directed by Trapa Majumdar) he portrayed Sitol Sai, chief disciple of Lalon Sai. In Muktodhara (Nayla Azad Nupur directed, Theatre production), he played Prince Sanjay and contributed to production management. In the Shilpakala Academy repertory production Eksho Bosta Chal (awarded the Japanese Uchimura medal), he appeared in a special role. He is now preparing to perform a solo play written by Apurba Kumar Kundu and directed by Shubhasish Dutta Tanmoy.
Ershad Hasan excels both on radio and television. He regularly acts in TV dramas aired on various channels. In the mega-serial Lalita (Ekushey TV, written & directed by Jewel Mahmud), he portrayed the central character Lalita’s cousin Shariful. In the serial Rong Tamash (BTV, written by M. A. Salam, directed by Mannan Shafiq), he played a key role. He appeared as Pachak in a serial directed by A. D. Dulal on Masranga TV. In the serial Babar Bari (directed by actor Bulbul Ahmed, aired on Boishakhi TV), he acted alongside Litu Anam, Arfan Ahmed, Tutul, forming a friendship quartet. In another Ekushey TV serial Tattu Ghora (written and directed by Jewel Mahmud), he performed a diverse character. He is also currently acting in several ongoing productions.
At the award ceremony—attended by national cultural figures, social workers, popular stars, and print and electronic media journalists—Ershad Hasan expressed feeling that receiving the TRAB Star Award 2025 is a recognition of his overall body of work. As a theatre artist, this award brings joy and inspires him to engage in more stage performances and increases his dedication to his craft.
Other distinguished recipients of TRAB Star Award 2025 included veteran film antagonist actor Siba Sanu, film actress Rumana Islam Mukti, film antagonist actor Mohammad Ashraful Haque Don, Acting Artists’ Association General Secretary actor Rashed Mamun Apu, lyricist and composer Ithun Babu, singer Moushumi Chowdhury, actor Chanchal Khan, actor Said Hossain, and others.
Chief guest of the event was Mr. Kader Gani Chowdhury, General Secretary of Bangladesh Federal Journalists Union (BFUJ); the main speaker was Ms. Masuma Rahman Tani, Managing Director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). Special guests included Mr. Tashik Ahmed, Advisor (Programs & Broadcasting) of ATN Bangla; Mr. Erfanul Haque Nahid, Organizational Secretary of BFUJ; Mr. Kamrul Hasan Darpan, President of Bangladesh Film Journalists Association (BACHSAS); renowned film director-producer Syed Ahdizaman Diamond; and Ms. Lion Anwara Begum Nipa, Chairperson of Women & Child Skill Development Foundation. The event was welcomed by Suhrid Jahangir, General Secretary of TRAB, and presided over by Kader Mansur, President of TRAB.
