Workers from at least four factories in Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) demonstrated today for a pay hike.
The workers started their protest on Tuesday, demanding at least a nine percent salary hike, in line with regulations, said CEPZ Executive Director Md Abdus Sobhan.
Workers of JMS Holding kept the main gate under lock and key from outside around 11:50am, while employees of HKD International, Smart Jacket and BSKL Ltd staged demonstrations inside their factory premises.
"The workers of these factories are protesting for a salary hike as per the wage board and we are trying to resolve this through negotiation with the workers and factory owners," said the CEPZ executive director.
