The government has proposed reducing the cost of internet and mobile services in the national budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed announced a reduction in the withholding tax on internet services from 10% to 5% during unveiling the national budget on Monday afternoon.
The turnover tax on mobile operators is also set to decrease from 2% to 1.5%.
“The adjustments aim to streamline the existing tax structure and expand the tax net,” the Finance Adviser said during the unveiling the budget.
The measures are part of the Finance Ordinance 2025 and are intended to make digital services more affordable for consumers.
If the proposal is finalized, mobile and internet users across the country could see lower bills in the coming months.
