Security has been strengthened around several Bollywood personalities, including actors Salman Khan and Aamir Khan and filmmaker Rohit Shetty, following a shooting incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai.
A day after three men allegedly opened fire outside Shroff’s location, an additional police vehicle was deployed near Salman Khan’s residence, while patrolling was intensified around Aamir Khan’s home.
Salman Khan and Rohit Shetty already had security arrangements in place. A senior police officer said a vehicle from the local police station would now maintain a continuous vigil near their residences.
Shroff has also been provided with police protection.
Mumbai Police are investigating allegations that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the firing incident reported in Juhu on Sunday.
The three men suspected of firing five rounds at Shroff’s car on Sunday evening were arrested aboard a train in Kota, Rajasthan, on Monday. The arrests followed a tip-off from Mumbai Police and a coordinated operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
According to police, the suspects had fled Mumbai after the shooting and were allegedly planning to travel to Delhi before heading to Nepal.
New CCTV footage reportedly shows two of the suspects rushing to board the Pune–Jaipur Express at Surat railway station in Gujarat, approximately 275 kilometres from Mumbai, hours after the incident.
A Railway Police officer said the suspects travelled to Surat by taxi before boarding a train bound for Jaipur at around 1.30 am on Monday.
Abhay Soni, Superintendent of Police in the Western Railway’s Vadodara division, said the Government Railway Police in Gujarat and the Railway Protection Force assisted in tracing the suspects by coordinating with Mumbai Police.
Investigators suspect that the three men had visited the location of the shooting a week before the incident, on October 11, according to CCTV footage and call data records cited in a report by The Indian Express.
An investigating officer said police believe the suspects may have planned to attack Shroff during that earlier visit but left after the actor did not arrive to play football. This theory remains part of the ongoing investigation.
Shroff reportedly visits Pushpa Narsee Ground in Juhu to play football between 5 pm and 7 pm on Sundays.
“He hardly misses any Sunday,” said a friend who was with the actor on the day of the shooting and requested anonymity.
Police are continuing their investigation into the shooting, the suspects’ movements and the possible motive behind the attack.
