National Girl Child Day 2026 was observed in Sariakandi upazila of Bogura district on Monday under the theme, “No More Child Marriage, Girls Will Conquer the World.”
The upazila administration and the Upazila Women Affairs Officer’s Office jointly organised a rally on Monday afternoon to mark the occasion. Following the rally, a discussion meeting and an award distribution ceremony were held at the Upazila Parishad conference room.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S. M. Mikail Islam chaired the programme, while Upazila Women Affairs Officer Khaleda Yasmin moderated the discussion.
Among those who spoke at the event were Officer-in-Charge of Sariakandi Police Station A. F. M. Asaduzzaman, President of the Sariakandi municipal unit of the BNP Sahadat Hossain Soni, former Upazila BNP General Secretary Sahajat Hossain Palton, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Rashedul Islam and Press Club President Aktaruzzaman.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Cooperative Officer Shafiqul Islam and Secondary Education Officer Sanjay Kumar Pal were also present, along with other officials.
Following the discussion, prizes were distributed among the girls who won various competitions organized as part of the observance.
