Bangladesh men’s team beat South Korea 39-35 points in their Group A opening match of the 20th Asian Games at the Tokai Citizen Gymnasium in Japan on Monday.
Bangladesh team were ahead in the first half by a narrow 17-16 margin before collecting the remaining 22 points in the other half of the game.
Bangladesh earned two bonus points and two all-out points in the first half, and four and two all-out points in the second half.
The South Korean team bagged six bonus points in the first half, and two bonus points and two all-out points in the other half of the game.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play their next game against Chinese Taipei at 4:30 pm [Bangladesh Standard Time] also on Monday.
Bangladesh will play hosts Japan on Tuesday before facing the holders and eight-time champions India on Wednesday.
After playing each other once, the top-two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals to be held on September 25.
The Group B features Iran, Nepal, Thailand, Pakistan and Malaysia to compete in the 10-team tournament.
However, Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team will start their Group A campaign by taking on three-time champions India at 5:45 pm [BST] at the same venue.
Bangladesh women will face Iran and Japan as their group rivals next, while Group B comprises Chinese Taipei, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Nepal.
