File PhotoBNP Standing Committee Member and Prime Minister’s Political Adviser, Mirza Abbas is returning to Bangladesh today after undergoing more than five months of treatment in Singapore and Malaysia.
The aircraft carrying him is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 9pm on Wednesday.
BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter, saying Mirza Abbas is now in much better health and is returning home on the advice of his medical board.
Mirza Abbas was elected as a member of parliament from the Dhaka-8 constituency in the 13th parliamentary election.
On March 11, Mirza Abbas suddenly lost consciousness while drinking water during an iftar gathering. As his condition did not improve, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital late that night.
Later, as his condition deteriorated on March 15, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance. After receiving treatment there, he was transferred to Malaysia for further medical care.
