Images of a rescued elderly woman-covered in mud and being carried in the scoop of a digger-have featured prominently in coverage of the disaster.
She is now known to be 97-year-old Guna Maya Bohara. Her doctors say she is recovering in hospital, BBC reports.
Speaking to BBC Nepali, her great-nephew Dipak Bohara says she looked like "a warrior" who had returned victorious from battle.
The operation to pull her out of the rubble of her care home took four hours.
Dipak Bohara travelled from Kathmandu to help rescue his great-aunt.
