Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Advisor Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman has said that Bangladesh-India relations will be rebuilt.
“The relationship between the two countries will be built on the basis of equality, moving away from the way the relationship was for the past 17 years,” he said.
He said this at a press briefing organized on the progress of various government activities at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The Information Advisor said that friends can be changed, but neighbors cannot be changed. He also commented that there can be communication and dialogue between the intelligence agencies of the two countries.
Stating that no Indian organization or institution will be allowed to work in Bangladesh like when former dictator Sheikh Hasina was in power, he said that from now on everything will be done through discussions as an independent, sovereign and self-respecting nation.
Regarding the Prime Minister's visit to India, Zahed Ur Rahman said that India has invited the Prime Minister of Bangladesh as the President of BIMSTEC. In addition, a separate invitation has also been extended by India. And the Prime Minister can go to India at any time.
Regarding the return of ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the country, the advisor said that she will also be given full security in the country. Even the most horrible person will get his citizenship rights.
