Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to visit Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar today, marking his first visit to the two districts since taking office following the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The prime minister will travel by helicopter from Dhaka to Matarbari in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Sunday (9 August).
The information was confirmed by the prime minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.
According to the prime minister’s official itinerary, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inspect the Matarbari Deep Sea Port, the coal-fired power project and the activities of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA) at around 10:30am.
He will then attend a programme at the West Banshkhali High School and College field in Baharchhara Union, organised to rehabilitate people affected by the recent floods.
At around 1:30pm, the prime minister is scheduled to land at Pehelgazi Dighi field in Fatikchhari upazila and proceed to Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa.
There, he is expected to pay a courtesy visit to Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari. He will then visit the grave of the late Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi.
According to the itinerary, Tarique Rahman will take a break at the Chattogram District Council Dak Bungalow in Hathazari at around 3:45pm.
Later, at 5:00pm, he is scheduled to attend a programme at Hathazari Government College field aimed at rehabilitating people affected by the recent floods.
In the evening, the prime minister will attend an organisational meeting at the auditorium of Radisson Blu Hotel in Chattogram.
After completing the day’s engagements, he will leave Chattogram for Dhaka and is expected to return to the capital at night.
