Public Awareness Is the Key to Preventing Cybercrime, Says Entrepreneur Nazmul Haque Sojib

As digital technology continues to transform everyday life, the risk of cybercrime is also increasing. Online fraud, social media account hacking, identity theft, blackmail, phishing scams, financial fraud through malicious links, and the misuse of personal information have become common concerns. In this context, young cybersecurity entrepreneur Nazmul Haque Sojib believes that public awareness is the most effective tool for preventing cybercrime.

Nazmul Haque Sojib, a resident of Khalapara village under Selbarash Union in Dharmapasha Upazila of Sunamganj District, is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Political Science at Ananda Mohan College in Mymensingh. Alongside his academic studies, he has been actively working in the fields of information technology and cybersecurity.

He is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Take Down Fighters (TDF), an information technology company that provides services including social media security, digital branding, website development, and other technology-based solutions.

Beyond his professional activities, Sojib is committed to raising public awareness about online safety. He believes that preventing cybercrime through education and awareness is far more effective than dealing with its consequences after an incident has occurred.

Speaking about cybersecurity, Sojib said, “Public awareness is the strongest defense against cybercrime. As technology evolves, cybercriminals continue to adopt new tactics. Internet users should avoid clicking on suspicious links, never share their OTPs or passwords with anyone, use strong and unique passwords, enable two-factor authentication (2FA), and remain alert to any suspicious online activity.”

He further emphasized that combating cybercrime requires a collective effort.

“The responsibility does not rest solely with law enforcement agencies or technology companies. Families, educational institutions, the media, technology firms, and the general public must work together to build a safe and secure digital environment,” he said.

According to Sojib, regular digital safety education for children, teenagers, and young adults is essential in today's technology-driven world. He also encouraged victims of online fraud, cyber harassment, or digital abuse to report incidents promptly to the appropriate authorities and seek legal assistance instead of remaining silent.

Looking ahead, Sojib said he plans to continue organizing cybersecurity awareness campaigns, promoting responsible internet use, and helping young people develop technology-based skills that will enable them to use digital platforms safely and effectively.
