On 27 June 2026, Md. Mohidul Islam, Additional Secretary to the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the newly appointed Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), visited the Narayanganj River Port.
During the inspection, he visited the Narayanganj River Port Terminal area, the new terminal building currently under construction by the World Bank, the under-progress shed at Machh Ghat, the under-construction Khanpur Inland Container Terminal, the Narayanganj Dredger Base, the rescue vessel Prattay, and the DEPTC. He also inspected the waterways from the Dredger Base, through the section in front of Shah Cement Factory along the Shitalakshya River, up to the Muktarpur Bridge area on the Dhaleshwari River.
During the visit, Member (Engineering) of the Authority Mr. Rokibul Islam Talukdar, Director (Admin and HR) and additional charge Director (Port and Traffic Department) Md. Saiful Islam, Chief Engineer (Civil) A. H. Md. Farhad Uzzaman, Director of the Conservancy and Pilotage Department Captain Md. Shajahan and officers and employees from all departments of Narayanganj River Port were present.
