Collected PhotoA mobile court has fined Rajdhani Bakery Tk 25,000 for operating without the required licence from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) in the Daulatdia area of Goalanda upazila, Rajbari. The court also ordered 20 days’ imprisonment in default of payment of the fine. During the operation, unauthorised ingredients used in food preparation were destroyed in accordance with the law.
The drive was conducted at around 1 pm on Monday, October 26, under a joint initiative of the Goalanda Upazila Administration and BSTI.
According to the upazila administration, the operation was carried out in the Daulatdia area to ensure the quality of consumer products and safeguard public health. During the drive, authorities found that Rajdhani Bakery was operating without the required BSTI licence.
The establishment was subsequently fined Tk 25,000 under Section 31 of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution Act, 2018. The court also ordered 20 days’ imprisonment in default of payment of the fine. Various unauthorised ingredients used in preparing food products were also destroyed during the operation.
The drive was led by Goalanda Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Muntasir Hasan Khan.
Speaking about the operation, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Muntasir Hasan Khan said, “We found that food products were being prepared in highly unhygienic conditions at the bakery. There was no proper cleaning or sanitation system in place. Consuming food prepared in such an environment could pose health risks to the public, including children. The upazila administration will continue conducting drives against such irregularities to protect public health and ensure food safety.”
The upazila administration said similar operations would continue in the public interest to ensure the quality of consumer products, reduce health risks and take legal action against businesses found violating relevant regulations.
