Mohammad Rayhan, managing director of Walton Plaza, and Sadat Rahman, president of Zero Missing Foundation, the founding organisation of MUN Alert, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
Walton Chief Marketing Officer Zoheb Ahmed, Pop5 Chief Executive Officer Masud Parvez and officials from the organisations concerned were also present at the signing ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Mohammad Rayhan said Walton Plaza had not confined its activities to product sales and services but also participated in various social and humanitarian initiatives for public welfare.
“As part of that commitment, we have joined hands with MUN Alert to help disseminate information about missing persons quickly and extensively among the public,” he said.
He said people would be able to visit their nearest Walton Plaza outlet to view the latest information on missing persons. They would also be able to report a missing person or follow up on an existing report through MUN Alert’s helpline at 13219 and its web portal.
Zoheb Ahmed said a large number of people visit Walton Plaza outlets across the country every day.
“Using this extensive network and the TV screens at our official outlets to disseminate information about missing persons is part of our social responsibility. We believe this initiative will play an effective role in helping locate missing people quickly and supporting their families,” he said.
MUN Alert founder Sadat Rahman said the wider the reach of verified information, the greater the possibility of finding a missing person.
“Walton Plaza’s extensive nationwide network will help take missing-person information to many places that would otherwise be difficult for us to reach on our own. We are delighted to have Walton Plaza by our side in this humanitarian initiative,” he said.
