Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to leave for China on Monday (22 June) night on his first official visit to Beijing as head of government.

During the five-day visit, Rahman, also the BNP chairman, is scheduled to hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and the Chairman of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The Prime Minister will also participate in a climate-related conference and attend an investment summit aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

As part of the visit, the Prime Minister is also due to meet representatives of several major Chinese multinational companies, including Chery, Honda and Chinatex, to discuss trade and investment opportunities.

Rahman is scheduled to visit the historic Great Hall of the People, where meetings with senior Chinese leaders are expected to take place. He is then due to hold talks with President Xi Jinping the following day.

The visit is being viewed as an important step in further strengthening bilateral ties and expanding economic and political cooperation between Bangladesh and China.
