Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has left for Moulvibazar to oversee a Family Card distribution drive and address a public rally.
He arrived at Shahjalal International Airport from his Gulshan residence around 9:30am on Wednesday, Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said, adding the flight was due to depart soon afterwards.
After landing in Sylhet, Tarique will travel to Sreemangal to inaugurate the first Family Card distribution at Victoria College ground at 1pm.
He will then attend a second distribution event at Moulvibazar High School ground at 2:30pm, followed by a public rally.
From there, the BNP chief will attend a party leaders' meeting at DuSai Resort before leaving for Sylhet in the afternoon to fly back to Dhaka the same night.
This is Tarique's first visit to Moulvibazar as prime minister.
He had last been to the district on the campaign trail on Feb 12, before the BNP secured a parliamentary majority.
He returned to Bangladesh on Dec 25 last year after more than 15 years in London.
