The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain and thundershowers in different parts of the country over the next 24 hours from 9:00am today.
According to a Met Office bulletin issued this morning, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning are likely at many places in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
A few places in Rangpur, Dhaka, Barishal and Chattogram divisions may also experience rainfall, while isolated showers are likely in Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.
The bulletin said moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country.
Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country, it added.
A mild heatwave is currently sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Nilphamari, Chuadanga and Khulna and may spread further, according to the BMD.
The country’s highest temperature on Monday was recorded at 37.2 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, while the lowest temperature today was 22.5 degrees Celsius in Sylhet.
In Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 6:45pm today and rise at 5:10am tomorrow.
