Three members of the same family, including a child, were electrocuted in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred in the Badurtala area of Barghoria Union in Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Hasina Begum, wife of Mohammad Bhikhu; his niece, Asha Khatun; and Asha's daughter, Mim, all residents of the Badurtala area.
Barghoria Union Parishad Chairman Harunur Rashid said a metal ladder at the house became live due to rainwater.
Asha Khatun and her daughter, Mim, were electrocuted while climbing the ladder. Hasina Begum was also electrocuted while trying to rescue them.
All three died on the spot, he added.
