At least three people were killed and ten others injured when a bus rammed a parked truck on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway at Bairagiganj in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur early Wednesday.
The accident occurred in front of Shah Amanat Petrol Pump in the area around 5:30am.
The identities of the deceased and injured could not be known immediately.Confirming the matter, Moazzem Hossain, in-charge of the Barodarga Highway Police under Pirganj, said that a Khan Paribahan bus, travelling from Dhaka to Kurigram, hit the parked truck after reaching the area. The bus then struck the road divider and was badly mangled.
One person died at the scene, while two others died after being taken to hospital, he said.
Ten to 12 injured passengers were admitted to hospital, the police official said, adding that police seized the bus and truck after the accident.
