Army rescues 11 alive after boat capsizes in Rangamati

Eleven people were rescued alive after an overloaded boat carrying local passengers capsized in Jurachhari upazila of Rangamati district on Wednesday evening.

The incident took place at around 7:45pm in the Rajmonipara area when the vessel, carrying women, men and children, suddenly sank.

The incident was first noticed by an army personnel, who immediately alerted a nearby Bangladesh Army patrol team.

Responding swiftly, the patrol team reached the scene and launched a rescue operation, successfully pulling 11 passengers from the water.

Among the rescued was a pregnant woman, who was quickly sent to hospital for advanced medical care.

After the rescue, the survivors were provided with necessary assistance and safely handed over to their families.

The Bangladesh Army said it remains committed to maintaining security in the Chattogram Hill Tracts and ensuring peaceful coexistence among all communities, adding that it is always ready to respond to emergencies involving the public.
