Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain paid a surprise visit to the Singair Upazila Health Complex and its 50-bed hospital in Manikganj on Saturday morning.

During the visit, the minister also took part in the inauguration of a mosquito control and cleanliness campaign aimed at preventing mosquito-borne diseases such as Dengue fever. The campaign has been launched nationwide from Saturday.

While inspecting the health complex and hospital facilities, the minister spoke with patients and listened to their concerns. He also inquired whether patients were receiving food properly and asked about the quality of the meals being served.

The minister further checked the attendance of doctors and staff at the facility. He expressed dissatisfaction after finding that the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer and two other doctors were not present at their offices on time.

Officials said such surprise inspections at government healthcare centres would continue in the future to ensure improved services.
