Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested four members of a human skeleton theft ring in a special operation, recovering 47 human skulls and a large quantity of bones. The operation was carried out by Tejgaon Police Station.
Deputy Commissioner of DMP Media and Public Relations, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed the arrests late Monday night.
Preliminary police reports indicate that the suspects had been stealing human skeletons and bones from various locations for an extended period and were engaged in selling them.
Authorities are investigating the origin of the recovered skulls and bones and whether a larger network is involved in the illicit trade.
A press conference will be held at the DMP Media Centre on Wednesday (March 10) to provide detailed information about the operation. Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Ibne Mizan is expected to brief the media on the skeleton theft case.
