Magnitude 4.1 earthquake jolts Sylhet, adjoining areas

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted Sylhet and its adjoining areas around 12:46pm today.

Farzana Sultana, assistant meteorologist at the Seismic Observatory and Research Centre of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, confirmed the information.

In an occurrence message, she said the epicentre was located in Chhatak upazila and classified the impact as “light”.

No casualties or damage were reported immediately after the tremor, officials said.
