National Citizen Party (NCP) Joint Chief Coordinator Khan Muhammad Mursalin has resigned from all party posts.
Mursalin announced his resignation in a Facebook post, after submitting his resignation letter to party convener Nahid Islam earlier today.
In a post, he wrote, "I have been serving as the joint chief coordinator of the NCP, with responsibilities in the Media, Publicity, and Publishing Cell for the past few months. Recently, I was also appointed as secretary of the Election Steering Sub-Committee. But from today, I have resigned from all posts."
He also shared a video explaining the reasons behind his decision, expressing disappointment and pointing to NCP's failures.
Mursalin said after the July 2024 uprising, NCP spoke of a new political settlement, which he believed aligned with his 15-year struggle.
However, the core force of the uprising -- the activists -- were not brought to the centre, he said.
Women who risked their lives during the uprising were sidelined, and NCP failed to unite students and the public, he added.
The July Charter was compromised, weakening the uprising and forcing concessions to old political stakeholders, Mursalin said.
Extending his wishes to NCP, he said, "I feel NCP's path has diverged from our mass political current. I am resigning, but not retiring from politics. We will continue this long fight on the streets, and In sha Allah, meet again soon."
