Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has arrived in the United Kingdom.
Upon landing at the airport on Wednesday, he went directly to a pre-scheduled program with party leaders and activists in Nottingham.
On Thursday, he is scheduled to attend several programs in East London.
Since the fall of Sheikh Hasina, Dr Shafiqur Rahman has made several visits to the UK.
Asked about the purpose of his current visit, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Europe spokesperson Barrister Abu Bakar Mollah said that Dr Rahman himself would explain the objectives of the tour during a media briefing on Thursday afternoon.
Sources said that after completing his scheduled programs in London, he will leave for Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Umrah.
Dr Shafiqur Rahman is expected to return home on December 21.
Party sources also said this would be the Jamaat Ameer’s final visit to London before the upcoming national election.
For strategic reasons, the party has decided to avoid any form of “photo politics” during this visit.
