6 Bangladeshi peacekeepers killed in Sudan UN base attack

At least six Bangladeshi peacekeepers have been killed in a terrorist attack on a UN base in Sudan's Abyei, while serving under the United Nations peacekeeping mission.

The attack, which took place on Saturday, also left eight others injured, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Bangladesh.

A total of 14 Bangladeshi peacekeepers were affected in the incident at a UN base in Abeyi.

The ISPR confirmed that the attack was carried out by terrorists and clashes are ongoing in the area.

The injured personnel are receiving necessary medical treatment and authorities are conducting rescue operations.

The situation in Abeyi remains unstable and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

AFP news agency also reported the attack, citing hospital sources in Sudan’s Kordofan region, confirming the deaths of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers at the UN facility.

Bangladesh’s military has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of its personnel and continues to coordinate efforts to ensure the safety and recovery of the injured.
