Food prices push November inflation up to 8.29%

Published : Sunday, 7 December, 2025 at 3:41 PM  Count : 47

Inflation edged up to 8.29 percent in November owing to an increase in food prices, reflecting a continuous strain on the wallets of people, especially those in low- and fixed-income groups.

Last month's inflation was 12 basis points higher than October's 8.17 percent but lower than the 11.38 percent recorded in November last year, according to data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics today.

In November this year, the consumer price index, a measure of the changes in the prices of a basket of goods and services, in both rural and urban areas, increased.

Bangladesh has been grappling with persistent inflation for nearly four years. Consumer prices stayed over 9 percent until May 2025 and have remained over 8 percent since then.
