Enamul Haque Khan, owner of Diamond and Divas, has been elected unopposed as the president of the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) for the second consecutive term (2025-2027).
Bajus has finalised its new executive committee through mutual understanding, without requiring votes from general members, continuing its previous practice.
In this process, the president, senior vice president, three vice presidents, treasurer, and 29 directors have been elected unopposed, according to a press release issued today.
The election results were announced by the chairman of the election board, Nasreen Fatema Awal, from Bajus's central office.
Additionally, Ranjit Ghosh, owner of Sananda Jewellers, has been elected as the senior vice president.
Enamul Haque Khan stated that Bajus has become a family of nearly 40,000 members. "We will work to resolve the problems in the jewellery business. We'll prioritise the issues and work together," he said.
"Gold import needs to be simplified. Although there is an opportunity to import gold, the process is very complex. The resulting cost discourages importers," he added.
A Bajus source said the election process was completed last month. The current president, Sayem Sobhan Anvir, along with 27 members of the outgoing executive committee, could not participate in the election.
According to trade organisation regulations, after serving two consecutive terms, a break is required.
Taking advantage of this, a group of former leaders of the association submitted nominations for all 35 positions through mutual agreement, eliminating the need for voting.
