Around 92,500 members of the Bangladesh Army and the Bangladesh Navy will be deployed across the country during the upcoming parliamentary election to ensure security alongside other law enforcement agencies, the Chief Adviser's Office has said.
Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared the information on Wednesday at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, following a high-level meeting on election preparations at the state guesthouse Jamuna.
The meeting was presided over by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.
At the briefing, Shafiqul said around 90,000 army personnel will be deployed this time, with at least one company stationed in each upazila.
"In the previous polls, the number of army personnel was between 50,000 and 60,000," he added.
