Bangladesh ended their successful AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign with a 7-0 win against Turkmenistan at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on Saturday.
Having already clinched a historic Asian Cup qualification, Peter Butler's charges played with gay abandon as they scored for fun. Bangladesh smashed six goals past in the first 20 minutes of before facing a bit of resistance from the Central Asian nation.
There was a bit of lull in the next 20 minutes before Ritu Porna Chakma scored in the 41st minute to ensure Bangladesh went into the break with a 7-0 win.
Ritu Porna, undoubtedly the best player of the group, bagged a brace while Shamsunnahar Jr too got two goals. The other goals were scored by Tohura Khatun, Monika Chakma and Sapna Rani Mondal.
The second half was a completely different affair as Bangladesh, having already made a few substitutions, struggled to find a way past a resolute Turkmenistan defence. The substitute goalie also made a good impression as she foiled a number of attempts.
