Adopting a sustainable business model without creating a favourable business environment for the private sector would be contradictory, said Debapriya Bhattacharya, a distinguished fellow of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).

"If you cannot create a conducive investment environment, it will not be acceptable," he said.

To establish a sustainable business model more effectively, Bangladesh's investment climate must be improved, and government officials need to provide support in this regard, he added.

He made the remarks while summarising discussions among business leaders during a consultation on the national SDG report, organised by the Citizen's Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in the capital's Agargaon today.
