Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned home on Sunday night after completing a four-day official visit to Japan.
During the visit, the army chief attended the grand opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
As part of his itinerary, he held a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). They discussed various issues related to the sports sector and matters of mutual interest.
The army chief also attended an exchange meeting with presidents of Olympic associations from different countries.
According to officials concerned, the high-level visit and meetings are expected to contribute positively to the development of Bangladesh’s sports sector, expansion of international cooperation and strengthening the country’s position in the global sporting arena.
