Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that a proposal has been made to hold the first phase of Ijtema from January 8 to 10 and the second phase from January 15 to 17, and we have decided this date after discussing with everyone.

On Thursday, the Maulana Saad faction of Tablighi met with the minister. He said this after the meeting.

The Home Minister said, “Due to the elections, the Biswa Ijtema of Tablighi Jamaat has not been held for a year. Today, discussion was held with one of the two factions (Maulana Saad followers). Earlier, some time ago, we also talked to those known as Maulana Zubair faction. We told them that we will talk to both factions.”

He said, “We will talk to those concerned about this issue. The government's highest priority is to maintain peace and order. We want there to be no clashes, because such incidents have happened before, and there have been casualties. Therefore, we will take a decision keeping this in mind. Since we have not yet made a final decision, we cannot say more than that at this time.”

Salahuddin Ahmed said, “The Zubair supporters want to hold the first and second phases. And the Sad supporters want to hold the Ijtema in one phase before Ramadan and after those two phases in between. Or the Sad supporters want to hold the Ijtema before the start of these two phases proposed at the end of November.”

The Home Minister said, “The Ministry of Religion will look into the matter of Maulana Saad's arrival according to religion, and they will take a decision accordingly. It will be seen according to the visa policy. We cannot say anything final about this now. The clearance will be taken as per the visa policy, and then we will see.”
