
A member of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party was killed in a road accident on the Sylhet-Sunamganj highway in Shantiganj upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md. Ujjal Hossain (25) son of Md. Ataur Rahman from Chhota Ghagtia village in Jamalganj upazila. Ujjal had been serving in the Ansar force in Gazipur for over two years and was currently home on leave.
According to family and local sources, the accident occurred around 8:00 AM in the Sichni area near Dabor Point while Ujjal was traveling to a relative's house in Moulvibazar by motorcycle. He died on the spot from the impact.
Beyond his service in the Ansar force, Ujjal was a well-known social worker in his community. He founded a local blood donation organization in Jamalganj and actively organized blood drives for critical patients. News of his sudden death has drawn widespread grief across the area.
Shantiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Aliullah confirmed the incident, stating that the body was taken into police custody. Official legal procedures will proceed upon the arrival of the family members.
