A district-level workshop on the Mouza and Plot-Based National Digital Land Zoning Programme was held in Jhalakathi on Saturday (August 22), aiming to ensure proper land use, promote planned land management and make land zoning activities more modern and effective through digital technology.

The workshop was held in the conference room of the Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner's Office on Saturday morning.

Land Ministry Additional Secretary Md. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury attended the workshop as the chief guest, while Joint Secretary Mohammad Zahirul Islam was present as the special guest. Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin presided over the event.

Among others, Deputy Director of Local Government Julia Sukaina, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Touhidul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Mamun Al Islam, District BNP Convener Advocate Syed Hossain, District Jamaat Ameer Advocate Hafizur Rahman, Jhalakathi Press Club President Advocate Akkas Sikder and General Secretary Advocate Mahmudur Rahman Parvez were present.

Officials from different government departments, Assistant Commissioners (Land) from various upazilas and other concerned stakeholders also attended the workshop.

The workshop discussed the proper use of mouza- and plot-based land information and data, land classification, planned land management and various aspects of digital technology-based land zoning.

The organisers said digital land zoning would play an important role in making the country's land management more organised and sustainable. It would also help ensure the proper use of land in sectors such as agriculture, housing, industry and communications.

They further said that storing and analysing land-related information on a mouza and plot basis would make future land management and development planning more effective, transparent and systematic.
