Bangladesh were bowled out for 64 in 34 overs after a dramatic batting collapse against Australia, with the last-wicket pair providing the only significant resistance.

No Bangladesh batter managed to reach 15, with No 11 Shariful Islam top-scoring with 14. Taijul Islam, batting at No 9, remained unbeaten on 11.

The pair added 25 runs for the final wicket, the highest partnership of Bangladesh’s innings, helping the side avoid their lowest-ever Test total of 43.

Bangladesh had slipped to 39 for nine before Shariful and Taijul added 25 runs to take the total to 64.

Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc was the chief destroyer, finishing with six wickets for 12 runs from his 10 overs. Six of his 10 overs were maidens.

Australia captain Pat Cummins took three wickets, while Josh Hazlewood claimed the other wicket.

Bangladesh, who lost the toss and were sent in to bat, were unable to cope with Australia’s pace attack and were dismissed after batting for 34 overs.
