'Misinformation being spread over excessive electricity bills'

The Power Division has said that some individuals or groups have recently been spreading misinformation about inflated electricity bills and strongly protested the claims.

In a press release issued on Monday, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said all complaints regarding excessive electricity bills received so far have been resolved by the Power Division and the power distribution companies.

The ministry said there is no room for misinformation or confusion on the issue. However, if any consumer has a complaint about an inflated electricity bill, they should submit it with supporting evidence to the relevant authority, and appropriate action will be taken.

It also warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found spreading false information about excessive electricity bills without evidence with the intention of creating confusion.
